Default conflicting mouse and keyboard?

I have been using the logitech wireless mouse keyboard combo for a long tim eand the mouse started not working well so i got the microsoft intellipoint 2.0 mouse. It works fine, but now the keyboard doesnt work if the mouse is moving. so i can type, but if i move the mouse while i type it doesnt tyoe anymore. I have disabled the old mouse and all drivers are up to date.

Any ideas?

O yea. my roommate immediatly through out the box and reciept for the mouse so returning it isnt an option.
