only wireless internet works

I just bought a new notebook - HP Pavillion - and I could access the internet from an ethernet cable but now I cannot. Now I can access the internet via wireless connexion but cannot once I plug in the LAN cable. My computer-wiz stepsister suggested that it was a Norton restriction but I totally eliminated Norton from the computer and nothing has changed...

You are trying to use wireless AND wired connection?? I beleive whats happening is windows is choosing one or the other because two is redundant.... I cannot see a reason for having both connections enabled either.... However, go to Networking properties and make sure both connections are Enabled while you are trying this.

And get Norton back on your machine, no it wasnt the problem.
