Angry Shut Down Takes Forever

When ever I try to such down my computer, it takes forever. When I click start and then click Turn Off Computer , it takes about a minute for the little window (Standby Turn Off Restart) to come up. When it finally comes up and I click Turn Off, it will take 4+ minutes to turn off. It is a new XP AMD 64 Processor. Anyone know what the problem is?

The Computer is pretty new and runs on a dial-up internet connection. I do have Spybot Search and Destroy and I did delete some things that I never heard off. If I can't fix it, I guess I will do the Windows Rollback.

check out adaware. good program to get rid of unwanted material. Also, u can repair the windows installation and try this before you reinstall windows. Repairing will reinstall windows but wont delete your files or settings.

Are you purging the pagefile on shutdown? That can make shutdowns really long.
