Default Default page office 2003

While compiling a page of text in Word for Office 2003 to test a printer I went to page setup and reset the margins. I selected default after the alterations and now when I open ‘Word’ my printer test page – complete with text – comes up as the ‘new’ page. If I click the ‘New blank document’ icon I also get this page of text but if I go to File > New > Blank document I get what I want, a blank document! I have set this as the ‘default’ layout but I still get the sheet of text if I click the ‘new page’ icon. How do I get a blank sheet as my default ‘Word’ page? I have used system restore (Win XP) and even uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 but I still get a page of text on opening ‘Word’ Can anyone help please I’m going bananas.
