As for a hard drive, try a Western Digital
So does DFI.

*sniff* ..fanboy?

anyway,.. the system in my sig did only cost me about 800 eries, so i think you can get a nice ystem or the $1500 (but ok.. i did re-use my opticals, HD and case )

my suggestion.
AMD 3500+ venice
1b dual channel RAM
Geforce 6800 or a x800 series grafics card.
500/550Watt PSU (well.. i dont know much of those )
Asus A8V deluxe
HD,.. we'll choose the size you want.. but choose for an S-ATA, at last,.. as far as i know, they're faster. but if you go for a 250Gb Harddisc.. get one with 16Mb cache

Aspire X dreamer case-$59.99

6600GT 145.99$
LG775 Prescott 3.0Ghz 174.99$
Gigabyte GA-8I915G 99.99$
WD 250Gb SATA 115$
Kingston HyperX 1Gb 195$
Liteon SOHR-5239S / SOHR-5238S 26.95$
Antec TruePower 2.0 TP-II 430 76.99$
Total - 834.91$

Seperate your drives so you don't wear them out as fast as if you had a combo drive. Suggesting intel if you plan on doing much multitasking (or gaming, you won't notice the performance boost). You wanted less noise so a mobo with a passive heatsink and a low RPM HSF will cut back on that (also Intel and the Gigabyte with the pasv NB HS). The 6600 GT will yield the performance you need while not cutting into your budget, can be upgraded to a 6800NU for a little more and will yield a little better performance boost. Best thing to do with a case would be to buy it local or try and find a place that won't charge for shipping on a 15-20lb object. Almost any case will work for you so long as it's an ATX case and since you wanted a quiet case, something will smaller fans (and maybe in the neighborhood of 3-4 of them) Anything over an 80mm case fan will make a lot of noise depending on what the RPM's of the fans are set at. And you don't really need a floppy drive because they are slowly being phased out. If you really want one best buy would be on ebay for like .01$ + 4$ shipping.
