Alright, im not any computer genius or anything...
I read the "Building a computer" at the top of the page.. But can you guys help me build a good computer for under $1000? Basicly Gaming computer. Needs to run fast. GBs have to be like over 200gb. Windows. Very good video card. Sound card needs to be great also. Quiet sounding. Has to be able to run multiple programs without lagging or becoming uber slow. Has to be able to run like 3weeks long continusly without overheating. 5.1 speakers. Has to have a lot of bass too. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. is little hard to go below the 1000 mark with the things you want unless u dont want toe fastest of everything.
from the cpu, hdd, video and sound, case already would pass 1000 the way i would build it. i guess you can buy the stuff you really need and get the optional stuff later on, like the sound card, and speakers i guess you would want a p4 with HT or a a64 x2. you left out the RAM

I would recomend the AMD 64, over the AMD64 X2, becuase I don't think he needs something that high end for his price range, plus the AMD64 should do plenty good enough for wat his usage sounds like. |

Try a good AMD 64, not X2. Try like an AMD 64 3800+ or 4000+. For a vid card try a Radeon 9800 (for AGP) or a Radeon X800 (for PCI-E).

Asus and MSI both make great motherboards, check out this beast of a mobo- highly recommended http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130484. BTW- This is a PCI-E mobo, which is much better than AGP. I'd pair this with an ATI Radeon X800XT, that should fit your budget but deliver some great performance.
As for a hard drive, try a Western Digital

You must decide what processer you want first, ebcause it has to corspend with your CPU's socket. your main to are INTEL's P4 and AMD's AMD64, and i suggest a AMD64 with a 939 socket. |

Intel will be more geard towards multitasking while AMD's will be more geared towards gaming. You need to decide what you want to do more, multitask, or game. Both will run whatever you want fine however, but if you get into the major stuff it is then that you see the difference. As for video I'd generally say go with a 6800NU or a 6800GT if you got the money. Motherboard will vary depending on whether or not you want SLI or not and whether or not you want a passive or active northbridge cooler. Gigabyte makes some nice mobo's with passive northbridge coolers and are generally the same as the MSI counterpart. As for RAM you MAY need 2Gb eventually, but it would be fine if you started with just 1Gb to hold back on costs. Something that runs decent timings that also corresponds with the CPU so there is no bottle necking involved. Kingston, Corsair, GEIL, Micron, Crucial, and Samsung are all very nice companies and make valueram as well as high preformance ram. A HDD is a HDD, it doesn't really matter what company you buy (so long as you're not getting into the major drives such as the 10k and 15k SCSI and SATA drives). 200Gb will usually cost you about 100-120$. Sound system is up to you, you can buy almost any 5.1 speaker system and it will work out ok for you.
