Default BIOS help

BIOS on my asus P4S800-MX does not recognize my secondary IDE. what can i do?

Have you tried messing with the harddrive jumpers? Tried other IDE connections?

which ever device is in the primary, bios will recognize but it won't recognize the secondary. i've switch them around and use different cables but still don't work? i don't know what to do

Is the secondary IDE enabled In BIOS? From the way you posted, it seems to be disabled.

i set it on auto, when i tried to manually imput the device, it still doesn't work

What you said here is the auto detection of the secondary IDE channel. What I meant was enabling the secondary channel.
On ASUS P4S800-MX there is an option to enable or disable the primary or secondary IDE channels - in the BIOS this can be found on the BIOS advance menu, under chip configuration. Make sure that both IDE channels are set to enabled.

yeah, both of the IDE channels are set to enabled. i think i've tried every
option in BIOS. do you think i have a defective board?

try setting all the IDE devices on Cable Select (CS). and see what it does now

See post2 .. even if you swap the drive position relative to the cable, you'll need to set the jumpers on the HDD

Yep: think you had one set as Primary and one set as CS?
