Have you tried messing with the harddrive jumpers? Tried other IDE connections?

On ASUS P4S800-MX there is an option to enable or disable the primary or secondary IDE channels - in the BIOS this can be found on the BIOS advance menu, under chip configuration. Make sure that both IDE channels are set to enabled. |

try setting all the IDE devices on Cable Select (CS). and see what it does now
