Default BIOS problem

I have a problem with BIOS. In my BIOS, there's only a local drive and network for boot order. So I can't install Linux out of a CD-ROM. Every time I try, an old OS that has been there starts up. What is worse the old OS was messed up and I can't uninstall it. Does any body know how to work this out? Or any floppy disc that starts a CD-ROM drive? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

can u try to format the whole hdd so nothing is on it, or u wanna leave the old OS on it?

how is that possible that you don't have an option in your bios to boot from cd-drive, i got like more than dozen choices, can you disable booting from hdd and enable boot from other devices so that your system finds the cd-drive

There should be an option to boot to the CD Drive unless you have an old BIOS, say the computer is more than 6 years old.

You can try the Win ME or Win 98 floppy boot disk, which has the option to boot the computer with CD Rom support.

QUESTIONS 101
If you have a CD drive installed it should show in the boot list. Make sure the BIOS is in fact detecting the drive.

It sounds like the CD drive doesn't work or isn't installed proprly. When the other OS boots up can you use the drive in it?
