You sure you connected everything? Oh and if there are those fancy diagnostic leds you should check out how they're lit, they usually have about 1-2 pages about those in the manual. For example, on my mobo I have 4 leds. If they are all red the CPU is busted or not correctly installed, 3 red and 1 green means in my case that there is a problem with the memory etc.

Follow what mrjack said, and also try booting without your ram installed, and any other devices that are not critical. It could be a problem wiht the psu or video card.

id it actually do anything? you should check on the internet on the compartibility list of the mobo, if that mobo does support you CPU.
i mean.. my old K7T-Turbo Limited Edition board could support only till the AMD palomino core.. the other CPU (barton and those cores) wernt supported, so the mobo acted as if there was no CPU insterted at all..

If you cant find that list/table, try fireing op your system without CPU in the socket.
my quess is , that it still does the same (Fans start running, but monitor stays black

You don't say what PSU you have. You are going from a low power system to a higher power system and the psu may not be up to the task. Your cpu should be fine with the new board and the memory as well.
Try a barebones boot with only the mobo, cpu, memory, psu, hdd and vid crd.
Reset you cmos using the jumper to clear. check to see if the cmos jumper is in the correct position as the clear position will give the same results as you descibe.

I hope yer not suggesting RAM isnt critical to the boot process

Well the no video could be your
A:Bad video card/ not pushed in all the way
B:Bad Ram/not pushed in all the way
C:Weak PSU(PLZ tell us the specs on the PSU(PSU= Powersupply unit))

I would check these first. If you don't have enought power video is one of the first to go. If you have no ram or it's not in all the way you'll have no video and if you video card is dead you'll have no video.
