Default CD-RW DVD RW optional

Hi all,
Finally got done putting together a "PC", and i am looking for a suitable CD- burner and a DVD RW, but i do not know which one to get.
I would definatly like a CD burner that does all formats if such a thing exsist and a DVD reader all in one. If the price is not considrably higher i would like to get a a DVD recoder within it, Is that possible??

when Buying a CD-RW/ DVD-RW drives, do i have to worry about which CDs will work, as in the CD-r or the CD+RW or the DVD-R or DVD-RW, i am not very sure what each on is for ??

thanks
