Question Monitor Wont Start up

Hi,
I am going to be building a computer soon, but im not getting the new TFT monitor untill Christmas. I have an old compaq monitor, but it will not work right. When it is turned on, the green light comes on, then the monitor makes a clicking noise, then the light goes amber. (I think this is standby). Why is this?

you should check to make sure that all of the pins on the connector to the vga cord are in tact, they are very easy to bend, and a pretty common problem when it comes to a "no-signal" issue

when i built my comp, i initially tried to put in a vid chip using the pci slot. I ended up having to reset the bios b/c by default the mobo was set to find the vid card from the pci express slot. so maybe try resetting the bios.
