Default worth the upgrade?

i have a p4 3.0ghz with ht technology and i have a dell mobo with a lga775 socket type, would upgrading to this processor show a dramatic improvement and would it still be good for playing battlefield 2? or would i be better off just getting a new mobo and getting a cheaper processor therefore completely ridding myself of dell products? which is better?

thanks

You cant run a dual core on that chipset, the pentium d's need 945 and 955 series.
