Exclamation Netsend

Hi, i have a fairly big home network with 6 PC's and 3 laptops. ALL laptops are on Win XP Pro and 5 of the 6 PC's are on Win XP Pro, the remianing 1 is on Windows 98SE. I need to eb able to NETSEND to it, when i try it comes back "the alias <name> could not be found on the network". Perhaps NETSEND is only on Win XP Pro, is there some kind of equivalent for 98 based systems, i know 98Se is in need of an upgrade but not got the time really, and the system is already set up and personalised the way i want it.

So, is there an equivalent of netsend or does it just not exist on win 98se.

net send has been available since nt4. when we used to do it at work we did:
net send <computer name> message

i believe you have to have the dreaded messenger services to be enabled to have this working. i always disable that crap, and SP2 disables it by default. . .

Windows 98

1. Open Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel.
2. Select Windows Setup tab.
3. Select System Tools and click Details
4. Check Winpopup and click Ok
5. Click Ok

To launch Winpopup, select Run from the Start menu. Type winpopup and click Ok.
does this help?
