Default SPoon feed- Help guys.

i might be asking too much of your time but i will be a first time CPU builder soon and im looking into a system for gaming (doom3,UT2004,far cry) mainly - budget of about $1000-$1200.
i am asking for a list of parts from newegg as i will buy stuff from there and if you can make a list with added links and specifics (brands/part#) of each parts so i will know what to buy - to make a very compatible system parts list.

i prefer AMD XP or 64
motherboard
case (prefer silver or black)(conservative look)
PSU + fans
video card
hard drive (about 120GB 7200rpm)
DVD rom
CDRW
RAM memory about 1G if possible
all parts/cards for connectivity-wireless ready as well.
sound ill use that of the MB
windows XP pro

hope you can come up with a list with links so i can just fire away and buy without worrying about compatibility.

Well, First of all you might want to wait till AMD gets support for PCI-X. Just because of the SLI ability with these cards.. * atleast the 6600 - 6800 *. This is getting two video cards, and linking them together. You get about 1.8X the performance. I'd also wait for the 6600 GT. About 200 dollars, and should out perform 5950 ultra, and 9800 XT. This is due to be released with PCi-X in september, and AGP in october. I would really personally wait a few months before buying a system.. * I am gonna buy one 'round new year.. *

Motherboard, Asus "A8v Deluxe" 137 Dollars.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-510&depa=1

CPU, AMD 64 3500+ socket 939, 400 dollars, * zipzoomfly.com was 40 dollars cheaper*
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...ctCode=80717-R

Ram, 1 GB of Corsair PC-3200, 150 dollars
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-440&depa=1

Videocard, Radeon 9800 Pro, * I REALLY would wait for 6600 GT *, I believe this has the R360 core so it SHOULD be softmoddable to a 9800 XT. 200 dollars.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...127-127&depa=1

Soundcard, I would Just go onboard.

Case/powersupply, Thermaltake Gaming Tower, 420 watt PS. You could get something less flashy cheaper I'd bet. 110 dollars.
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=370458

Harddrive, Seagate Barracuda 160 Gig harddriver, 7200 RPM. 95 dollars.
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=101554

CD-RW/DVD drive. DVD 16x. CD-RW 52X24X52. 40 dollars.
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=333018

Oh shit. I forgot to switch back to newegg.. Anyways you have the parts atleast. I'm pretty sure I didn't forget anything.. But I really, really must stress that I would wait a few months until the 6600 GT comes out/ 6800's drop in price, AMD PCI-X comes out,and the AMD 64 socket 939 start to drop a little. The prices comes out to a total of.. $1132.. Hopefully your in a state that the site doesn't tax.. :-/, and if you need a floppy you could pick one up or just take it out of your current computer. * assuming you have one *..
Well take it easy..

:Edit: Bastard....! You beat me to it.. Atleast he has two viable options now.. But I think we are pretty much the same.

Thats very ambitious for $1200 budget

Most definitely a good call there

Saw that and actually wrote it down but if you get the A8V ... get the wireless edition (roughly $150) as then you wont need the wireless setup expense. Other than that, you might as well save as much as you can (naturally without skipping out corners)

Get used to it

And about the 6600 GT's..I didn't mean buy two of them right now. I meant buy one, then possibly another in like a year or two when performances starts to drag.

Well naturally, with a budget capped at $1200 one wont be considering (a) two 6600s and (b) an SLI board

Yeah its a lot harder to spec a system when we're given a price cap eh?

Even still, a single 6600 GT should perform well. and if not the AGP will still be under 1200.

what do the internet sellers mean when they say -ASSEMBLED , INSTALLED UPDATED AND TUNED?

If i build my own system - how do i tune the system to where there will be less conflicts?
