Default Laptop won't power on via power cord

Toshiba 2800 - S201 : the wall outlet cord will not power on the laptop, while the charged battery will power on the laptop.

Symptoms :
1. using wall outlet power cord ; hit power button ---> no lights . no sounds , no spinning fans

2. using fully charged battery from another laptop ; hit power button ---> complete functionality .

Will now attempt to recharge a fully depleted original battery within the laptop via a known functional wall outlet adaptor cord/unit . My guess is that the battery will not get recharged . Won't know answer for several hours .

Any suggestions as to how to proceed to repair ? I suspect that it might be localized within the laptop to the circuit / component that receives and feeds juice from the the wall outlet . What is that component / circuit called ? How to replace if faulty ? Any secret safety ( discharged ) steps required ?

I am new to this world of laptops and do not have knowledge of electronics . I have a decent background in electricity , just enough to be dangerous in the world of electronics.

UPDATE -- after several hours , to my surprise , the battery became recharged . Now , I learned that jiggling the power cord in the back of the laptop and firmly pressing the power cord will trigger the LED lights to come on and the laptop will power up . Within a few minutes after releasing the firm inward pressure of the power cord , the LED's go out , laptop dies . So, it appears that there is an issue within the electrical connections within the laptop .

Any guidance ?

im confused a little bit. so it will charge the battery if you don't apply the inward pressure?

Sounds like a loose connector inside the laptop (power connector). Gonna have to bring it to a repair place to fix it or if you're good with computers and working with circuits you could try doing it yourself.

It appears to be a sporadic event of good connection / bad connection .

From what I am learning , there is a receptacle within the laptop which receives the power from wall outlet / adaptor cord . In my laptop ,if the connection is held in a specific position , juice will flow into laptop , into the battery . Otherwise , no connection , no juice, no life .

How do you open and replace the internal power connection socket / receptacle ? Website schematics ? Published "how to ... " documents ?

1. Dont press it too hard to get it work, u may loose all ur hope to repair it.

2. I think the contact of the pins with the MB r loosy, i think its better if u take it to a professional. Or u may try with ur own soldering iron. but its too risky, try if u r perfect n have past experience.

Could be a loose connection. Perhaps it can't handle the full current required to run the laptop and shorts out? Or it could be a general problem with the internal circuitry...
