Well... I believe SLI will just be an option for those who are either rich or obsessed with having the best performance. For those of us without a huge budget, I think it's best to go with non-SLI. If you have, say, $400 to spend on a video card, you'd be better off buying one $400 card than 2 $200 cards because the $400 will most likely have newer and more advanced technology (such as pixel shader version and HDR lighting effects).

well u can get an sli compatible mobo but you dont have to have 2 cards to work it. i have an sli mobo and the sli slot is a pci express slot x 2. i have one card (for now) and it works great, but when the time comes, i can upgrade this comp no problem by simply dropping in another card. with the sli mobo, your ready for future gaming.

For your case, you're probably better off saving your money and getting an NF4Ultra board

The Ultra only has one PCI-e slot.

The new SLI technology renders the screen in two chunks, usually a 3 - 1 ration. The old SLI technology split the screen into ODD and EVEN lines. The DRIVER then re-joins
the CHUNKS/SCAN-LINES together to increase the FRAME-RATE.

Both types seem a waste of money to me. If you want to play a game without your screen flickering, turn all the crap off, and play the game. If you want to look at the scenery, take a walk in the country...
