Exclamation How to speed up my CPU???

I recently got an AMD Athlon XP-M 2600 (Socket A) to replace my older AMD Thunderbird system. I replaced it, but the CPU is only running at 800MHz compared to its promised 2.0 GHz. How do I speed up the processor???

in the bios. check there for the thing called multiplier.
you brobably have to se that one to 7,5
( since your frontsidebus should be 266MHz. you might want to check that out to.)

anyway, to get to the bios, you have to press delete during the memory test.

but what motherboard do you have? and what core processor have you bought?

well mobile xp 2600+ uses barton core (512kb cache)

@ warne777 : mobile xp's have unlocked multiplier so when the windows start the multiplier is 6x: 133FSB*6=800MHz, u can use central brain identifier to change the multiplier from windows, change it to 15x and your cpu frequency will be 2000MHz, or u could lower your multiplier to 11x and set the fsb to 200 and get a 3200+, easy doable with amd athlon xp 2500+

Well, if he got the processor to replace an old one he probably put it in himself. Mobiles can fit into a desktop system...
