Default ungrading your OS??

I know this might be a dumb question, but if i upgrade my os from xp home to xp pro will all data be erased??

or better yet, if i go back to xp home from xp pro, will all my data be gone??

because i bought a very bad copy of xp pro from this local store, and the os is like a 8-bit color depth or something, the icons, color and theme looks like 95, 98 me, and 2000....

dumb questions, huh??
but, i just have to know!!!!

what do i do?
buy another the full verison or the upgrade verison?

Depends on how often you reinstall.... if you get the upgrade version you'll need to pop the WXP Home disc in every time to reinstall... for someone like me who reinstalls once or twice a week thats an unacceptable hassle but for most poeople its not too bad
