Default CD Drive Trouble

Ok here the situation. I recently downloaded linux and try to boot it on my old computer, but it won't boot. Then I try to boot using my new computer, it works, and then just to see, I try it with one of the school's computer it works.

The CD itself is a CD-RW and the old computer doesn't have a burner. So here the question:

Could an old CD -drive be able to recognize a CD-RW?
If No, can a Cd-R be able to work.

depending on how old the cd drive is, it might not be able to read cd-rw. but cd-r should be fine

yes it's most likely the Cd-rom. You might try either copying it onto a Cd-r or swapping drives just for the instal but of course try the cd-r first.
