Default Dell Media Experience?? What is it?

I have a Dell 8600 Inspiron laptop which came with something called Dell Media Experience. The problem I'm having is that it keeps shutting down on me and the End Task manager comes up and I have to close it, but I never use it. It says that it's using 65 mb of memory. Can I get rid of it?
