Look in Device Manger under USB, if you have 2.0 there should be listed-USB 2.0 Root Hub and one called Enhanced Host Controller

XP will give you an error if a 1.1 device is connected to a 2.0 port. Other OS's, you really don't know.
Never had that happen? Mine just runs at 1.1 speed, now if I plug a 2.0 in a 1.1 USB I get a no 2.0 USB found!
