Well I havehad many problems that I have solved with my custom built machine but I have never dealt with audio. I have a LanParty nForce4 Ultra-D motherboard which has on-board 8 channel. I have Inspire P7800 7.1 speakers. I've plugged in my speakers how it says I think but they dont produce sound. I get sound from games when I plug in headphones. But the speakers don't produce sound. Do I need to connect something internally. Do I need to connect something from my DVD drive to my audio I am totally lost.

you are sure that the cords ar plugged into your speakers, and that they are turned on right? also, try getting the latest updates from the mfg's website, and if your speaker remote (if you have one), there may be a headphone jack on it, try plugging ur headphones into there.
Try plugging just the green wire from your speakers into it, and see if you hear any sound, if you dont, then try plugging your speakers into a cd player or mp3 player, if still no sound, its probabyl defective speakers.

Well after messing around with it I got sound to come out of the speakers but it was a muffled sound and it didn't go very loud. I found out that in my software I need to turn it to 8 channel audio to make it work correctly so thanks alot guys, I got it to work.
