Default What do you look for in a cell?

I'm 17, and i JUST got my FIRST cell phone lmao. I'm actuall starting to NEED a phone when I go out, so I figured I'd better get one for emergencies and such.

So, what do you look for in a phone? Camera, cool design, simple design, what?

I don't have friends that call me, and I only call my girlfriend or my relatives, so I didn't want to get a monthly plan that I would never use up and still have to pay for. I can seriously see myself using less than 100 minutes some months, and other months making no calls at all lol. So I chose this "packaged" deal with Cingular.

And the "Pay As You Go" phone plan. All in all, with the phone price, phone plan, activation, shipping, and a free $10 starter card, it cost me $49.99 hehe, I think that's the best deal I've ever seen.

I have the Nokia 2185 i believe, it costed me $30 for the phone, its prepaid and its thru TracFone, i think its actually from us cellular since thats what it says on the caller id, but i get really good service. I just want one that has good battery life, a good signal, fairly durable, easy to replaceable faceplate, price, and games. I dont go for those built-in camera things since i have a digital camera for that, and to get that with prepaid would cost a fortune.

I dont use many minutes either, just to call home and say im running late or something, i use my home phone to call friends and stuff, i usually keep all calls under a minute. And i dont like being forced into paying $45+ a month for a phone service for 2 years. And i think that is a pretty good phone.

Exactly my thinking, I bought a digital camera for a reason lmao, i dont need one on my cell pphone. and i ertainly dont need to PAY to share my pictures, i'll go home and share them for free online and actually be able to distingusih what i took a picture of.

Sony advertises the battery on my phone lasts for 12hrs talk time, which I don't think is quite right. I read that it's REALLY only 7.5hrs, but that's freaking great still to me lol.

i jsut hope to got they send me the BLACK model of my phone, and not the white faceplate one!

Ah, my GF's lil bro and mom both have LG's, as well as my own mother lol. they are quite popular. once my mom's contract with Verizon expires (in a few days) she's switching to Cingular, but only because me, my dad, and my sister both use Cingular.

verizon is a million times better then cingular. just look at coverage maps.

i was never one for camera phones until i had one. you'd be be surprised how many times you use it. If i plan on taking pics i bring a camera....but for happenchance pictures or when going out to the bars, the pic phone is worth its weight on gold.

i look for good battery life and durrability before features tho. I had a samsung phone that was the biggest POS ever. Battery had 2 hours of talk time and the software was super buggy. actually had it BSOD on me a few times

really? when i traveled with my dad from michigan to texas (we drove) his Cingular Blackberry always had a signal. We called back to the house every few hours (my mom is a bit paranoid of me driving from michigan to texas with only a permit lmao) and the connection was always good.

lol, i'm a bit of a camera whore myself. i bring mine everywhere, even to school. some days i tote it around and come home that night with 0 pictures, other days i've got 100+ lmao. ive made a habit of carrying it around, but i can see where a cell phone camera is just less bulky, although my casio fits in my shirt pocket hehe.

here on the long Island, I know of a lot of people who go for Cingular cause of their promotions, but once they get it, they're not too happy cause they get a lot of interference etc. Some towns around here they can't get a signal at all!

hmm, if service is that bad there maybe Cingular should re-think offering it in that area. i remember when we would go in the locker rooms at my old high school and NOBODY could get a signal. that place was like a concrete fortress, radiation couldn't get through i bet.
