Default Gaming Desktop Build

I wanna put together a PC that has at least the minimum requirements to play BF2, but the cheapest I can possibly build it for. heres what i came up with so far.

The mobo seems to be the weak link in your system. Go for a better board with nforce or Via chipset, maybe an MSI board.
You may need to up the ram to 1 gig but your video card will be a bottleneck.

I think the sempron might not be as good as the Athlon. And with that vid. card, don't expect it to run on high gfx. I'd say low-medium.

Ditch the ECS motherboard ... ECS specializes in low-end parts

yea i know it wont run like a $1500 setup, but im seeing how much it costs to just run BF2, even on low settings.

Im looking at new mobos. can someone explain the difference between the chipsets? for the socket 754s thers basically ULi, VIA, NF3, and SiS.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813152043

how does that mobo look?

Well the NF3, NF4 and Uli are the top tier chipsets while the Via and Sis make up the mid and low end chipsets i think ATi might have a chipset in there somewhere too dont remember

On what specs and what resolution? And what do you define as being "smooth"?

Everything jacked, with the only smaller thing being 2x anti-aliasing. 1024x768@85Hz, getting about 40-55 FPS.
