Default burning problem

hey, used pioneer dvd burner and nero to make back up of harddrive with windows me. nero made the disc, but when i put it back into the dvd drive, it comes up as cd, not the dvd. is there something i need to select to tell the dvd drive to look for dvd's, not just cd's? appreciate your help, thanks

mine does that too. as long as all of your files show up you shouldn't have to worry about that. i think if you burn a data dvd windows just views it as a regular cd with a larger capacity.

how would i get the data off there now? if it looks at it like a cd, then its blank to the machine. had problems, and got rid of sonic dla, ulead and something else. though nero fixed that? aappreciate the advice

have you had it working previously? like being readable as a dvd..

when you burn with nero, make sure you select "dvd" instead of "cd"

make sure nero's burn options is not set to "simulate" and set to "burn" when you are ready to burn

Thats ok (well should be), it says "CD" because the way the files are structured on the disc (which is somehting end users dont have to worry about)

Sounds like a stupid question but did you burn the disc using the physical burner? Or is Nero set to use the "Image Recorder"?

Well other than a physical dvd drive, if its a DVDVideo disc, then you'll need an MPEG2 codec
