its nice to know we are cleaning up this forum.. i can honestly say, lately most of the threads have seemed off-topic mainly and some are so off, thats i personally dont even feel like replying or voting, yet those are always the ones that get reply's.. because it seems like its more of like an "opinion/what you think" whereas the computer-related threads is an "if you know the solution" ...
so yea, i would like to see "mod review a thread" first then see if it is acceptable for posting in the "off-topic" section.. but then again, mods aren't here everyday, and it can take a while for a thread to show up.. but its better than having threads full of complete useless inappropriate materials..

Hmmm....Astroman said what I feel. The word off-topic is self explanatory. The topic of the forum are COMPUTERS, and the off-topic should be free from much censorship. After all, who would want to talk ONLY about computers? As long as the given topic has some sense and makes a point which is open for discussion, then I would not see a problem. If someone is not sattisfied with that, then why go to that section of COFO? Maybe I am too harsh, but I truly do not see this is a problem at all. When you have more people, the likelyhood of them posting in the other categories is better than having members who simply post once and never come again.

actually.....this off topic forum is quite tame compared to others I've seen, and it is for off topic material, so wouldn't posting computer stuff in it warrent the post being moved to the relevant computer related forum?
I'll leave you posing this question.... When you go on break for work, do you take work with you in the break room? Do you and your coworkers use break as a meeting time to discuss work related stuff?

This forum still expects you to post with common sense and a certain degree of respect and class. Quote:
At my previous job, a few of us either ate at a restaurant (where there was always some discussion about work) or I continued working while I ate my lunch... I think you missed the point of THIS thread. While I do not like the off topic section AT ALL.. I understand it has its purpose.. Now, we need to clean it up and make sure all posts adhere to the rules and are in good taste...

Worry not. Preator will cleanse this chaos and stupidity so that it is once again organized and free of stupidity and immaturity.

Ok first off I don't want to sound like a jerk or anything. But really what does it matter what we post in the "off topic" section. As long as the things that aren't about computers aren't clogging up the computer section, what does it matter? Yeah most of the threads are really dumb, immature and tasteless but most (not all) of the people who start the threads are active members in the computer section as well. I think that the "off topic" section allows us to blow off steam and shoot the crap with the other members on the forum about "off topic" things. I DON'T agree with the argument threads however. For example: Rap vs. Metal. From the start that was a disaster. But some off the "off topic" sections are rather helpful. This is just my opinion. Thanks.
