Ok first off I don't want to sound like a jerk or anything. But really what does it matter what we post in the "off topic" section. As long as the things that aren't about computers aren't clogging up the computer section, what does it matter? Yeah most of the threads are really dumb, immature and tasteless but most (not all) of the people who start the threads are active members in the computer section as well. I think that the "off topic" section allows us to blow off steam and shoot the crap with the other members on the forum about "off topic" things. I DON'T agree with the argument threads however. For example: Rap vs. Metal. From the start that was a disaster. But some off the "off topic" sections are rather helpful. This is just my opinion. Thanks.

In some ways I agree with skidude but in some ways I dont. It is true that people are going to far and posting sex related stuff and that needs to stop. But in the computer forum everyone needs to get along and get to know each other. So in my opinion off topic is a place where you can post non computer stuff but not go to far and post sex related stuff.

What do you think?

Pretty pointless, hence the word Off Topic

Yeah...

I hope everyone realizes that I do not want the off topic to only revolve around computers... because as Holiday points out.. that does not make sense... This IS THE off topic section... so it should be about everything NOT related to computers.. HOWEVER, I still want to see is some level of integrity and class shown when posting in off topic forum... just as we require you to do when posting in the Computer sections (see the forum rules).

My 2 cents:
Unless the threads are offensive, abusive, disturbing then let them slide. Attempting to enforce undue cencorship will give the forum a sense of being over policed.

Free chat allows a real community sense to develop, were you can learn more about the personality of users. I mean with out it would never have discovered

bytemans views of chritianity
jan sex life, and photoskills
tweakers mushroom fetish
randruff warped sexual views, and foul mouth on the topic
that sfr had come back from a long trip away (well that i lie in my case as i did know that already), presumably after listening to Led Zeppelin
cromewells appreciation of scifi films, amoungst otherthings
Tabs plays guitar
Rambo's ability to know when o2 are giving away sim cards
That buzz likes punk music (The Pogues), and is a cricket fan
That lorand was married - albeit unhappily it would sometimes appear - with kid(s)... oh and he's thinning out on top
Zerox studied game design
That ian drop compsci at uni
Praetor play the saxs, and has in iq around 150, and spends non cf time chasing girls, with limited success
That dragon is ginger to name but a few things
elmarcorulz is a kickboxing beefcake

etc....
now these things are not computer related but they certainly help me to feel i "know" people here better, and habour as sence of community.

Stupid post seakers are delt with, offensive comments are deleted. But overall off topic chat, is just... well.... chatty.
