Default FOund great deal and need help

i found this 300gb seagate hard drive for 90 dollars and it says its sata-150 i think. i have a port on my mobo that says sata-3. is that compatible with this hard drive? my hard drive is already plugged into one that says sata-1. correct me if im wrong about anything

THAT HD WILL WORK FINE. THE 3 IS ONLY TELLING U (sorry bout the caps) that that is plug 3, like sata plugs, 1 through 3. anyway, yes it will work. even if ur mobo was sata II, it can still work fine, but it wont run at 330mb, only 150mb.

sorry, first of all, the 330 was a typo, its supposed to be 300. sata I has a transfer rate of 150mb. in other words, this is the speed of sata I. now, they have come out with sata II, which has doubled the transfer rate (or speed if u will) to 300 mb. is has to do with how fast the computer can write infoemation onto the hd. thats all. understand now?

EDIT: this means if ur mobo is only SATA I, and ur hd is sata II, then ur hd will only transfer at the sata I speed, becuase ur mobo is the limiting factor.

in the way ata133 does 133MB/s and ata100 does 100MB's/s

o ok ok thanks, but if anyone else is looking for a hard drive this is a really good deal on tigerdirect.com and its actually a maxtor (not seagate) 300gb hard drive for 90 dollars
