youre probably better off using CD-rw anyway, they might be a bit more expensive but you can just wipe them clean and use them again, where with a CD-r you cant!
yes but what if you need to store 900mb of data on CD? you wont be able to overburn that much on an rw... but you wont have to on a CDr.

uh oh i just got one...
prolly coulda chose a better brand (see CD/DVD 101) but realistically, it could be worse.

well if you don't get yours to work you could always get one of these, it's what I have and I LOVE IT
Actually thats, for all intents and purpooses, a rebagged Litey (which probably would have been cheaper)

as supremo said above, adjust the write speed. usually the disk will say on it or the packaging how fast it can be written onto. do not exceed this speed. go lower than the speed stated on the disk to be sure
Good idea however for CDR vs CDRW, only CDRW has a strictly enforced burn speed and for the most part, CDR burn speed is enforced.

@cyh06
What you might need to do is to uninstall the drive from Windows, reboot and let Windows automatically reinstall the device for you. To do so, (1) Control Panel, (2) System, (3) Hardware, (4) Device Manager, (5) Expand the DVD/CD-ROM Drives entry, right click on thr troublesome drive and uninstall it. Now simply reboot and let Windows try and repair itself.
