Default unsure about password

I'm not sure, but I don't think that the laptop is locked by windows. When I turn it on it starts to boot and the next thing I see is a black screen with a picture of a luck, it never shows a Windows screen.

um.....idk if it would let u flash the hard drive, but try to.......but first, idk what to do but make that ur last resort as you will lose all your files.

i just hope u didn't steal a laptop and they were smart enough to do something like that.

if it happens within 30 sec of booting up, and it looks like that, then its probably a BIOS lock. The only way to get rid of that is to open your laptop up and either take out the battery or look for a jumper (i know there on desktops, not sure about laptops though)

He came looking for help past a password... If it is stolen or not, He did not ask for help with that. IF it was stolen, what help is it going to be for you to keep mentioning if it was stolen? What is the Manufacturer and the model of the laptop? Do you know which windows is installed? When the latpopt boots try holding down f8, try going into safe mode. Maybe it will let you.

Default It's not stolen

It's not stolen, I think. Just playing. a friend of my brother gave it to him. My brother gave it to me. The original owner forgot the password. Its an IBM I looked for model #, I found the Type #: 2647, I guess thats the same thing. Any way it has windows 98.

im assuming u mean "lock"

if all fails, hey, atleast theres nothing else u can do to frustrate yourself anymore than trying to get the password.

try this:
im asusming u have an extra desktop, laptop around with a floppy..
so, with that said...

download this and burn it:
www.ultimatebootcd.com

and boot it, use the ATA password tool and try to unlock it.
