Default Installing windows onto harddrive.

I am going to put a hard drive from this computer into my new one. It is a sata drive with files on it but windows is not installed on it. I need to know if i can install windows on it from my new pc without removing any on the files or overwriting them. Is this possible or does windows clear the drive before installing on it?

You can install Win XP without affecting the files provided that during the install options you confirm that you do not want the drive formatted or leave the drive "as is".
