Hello,
I had a problem with my pc about 2 weeks ago that didn't result in me reformatting but repairing xp. The problem is with my Sound Blaster Live 24-bit external sound card. Sound is now breaking up and its really bad when other programs are running like surfing the web or just simply playing a game of solitaire. I looked through my device manager and it said everything is working properly. I have a P4 2.66, 512 mb ram. 120g hd, Videomate Tuner, dvdrw, cdrw, dvdrom, nividia geforce fx 5500. Everything worked fine until I had this problem. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks for your time Stewart |

Stewart..First, when issues come up like this, usually try re-installing your drivers first. Many times what happens is the drivers become corrupted somehow. Is your computer a home build or retail (Dell, Gatewat, etc)? You may want to open the case and, with a can of compressed air, clean out all of your fans and such. You could be experiencing overheating issues. Try those out and hopefully that takes care of the problem. Let us know how it goes.

My computer is home built. Everything inside of it is less than 2 years old except for the dvd-rom. I will clean it out but I am positive it cannot be an overheating issue. The card is an external card. Also I have one fan blowing inside of the computer and one blowing outside in order to keep air flow regulated. I definitely will do a reinstalling of my driver. I did not try that before, but had thought about it. I will give it a shot. Thank you.

You mentioned its external.....is it connect via USB or firewire? Could be possible either your USB or firewire drivers are corrupted as well.
