Default Dvd Writer Nec nd-4550a

I have just installed the nec nd-4550a dvd writer. I can read normal dvds, but when i put a blank disk in it wont read it and says its 0bytes.. does anyone had this problem? this is the 1st dvd wirter i have installed so it may be the tinyest little detail i missed...

if its blank then its not going to have anything on, hence the 0bytes

Thats normal.

Thats normal as well.

Run through the normal process of burning data to the disc and you'll see
