My friends computer has been running really slow for the past few weeks. We never got around to scanning it or spyware and viruses. She told me today that it doesn't boot, it displays a black screen and she can see the mouse pointer on the screen. The lights on the tower are on.
Any ideas? If it wasn't for the 2 weeks of virus type symptons I would say it's the graphics card, although she can see the mouse pointer....anyways appreciate some help if you can |

well if she can move it, at least the computer can possibly respond to keyboard commands and makes it a bit easier for us to work on. if she cant move the cursor, then the comp is easily freezing up and we'll have to work around it.
