I loaded win98 on an older laptop. Everything things to be running fine except for one annoying problem. When I start the system and load up an internet browser nothing loads. I have to kill the load and enter the website again. I have to do this 2 or 3 times and then the browser will work properly every time while the laptop is powered. When I power down or restart I have to go through the same sequence to get a webpage.
Any ideas? Thanks |

welcome to windows 98
make sure you run windows update and get everything current. You should also install firefox and use it instead. It's a lot more stable and less resource hungry

They might not support it anymore, but it still does not mean you have the MOST updated version of Win98. I think they stopped supporting Win98 in 2003. Your disk was made before that point so chances are you will have some updates.... and I would bet some of them deal with IE.

Granted but since he was using Firefox, any updates to IE wouldnt be an issue ... just a question though ... say you power up the system and leave it for a few minutes (say 5) and then try to goto a website .. does it work the first time? (im guessing at DHCP taking a long time)
