Hey guys, let me just start off by telling you I am a quality whore. I am obsessed with sound quality. I use foobar for playing music(.flac format), and have grado SR60 and HF-1 for headphones. Now its time to get my PC bumpin! I know already I want an X-fi sound card. I think I'm either going with platnium or fatlatiy but not sure. Also, can somoone reccomend me a 5.1 system?
CLIFF NOTES 1. Is the fatl1ty worth the cash over the platnium? 2. Reccomend me a really good PC speaker system 5.1 for under $300 3. I am a quality whore. I LISTEN TO: Underground rap, metal, hard rock, progressive rock, alternative, grunge, classic rock, some jam bands, and mild funk and blues

The Xtreme-Music or Platinum would be the best choices, since the only thing the Fatl1ty has is 64MB of XRAM, which currently doesnt do a whole lot, and it costs about $280. So i would say go with the Platinum.
And for speakers, i would either get the Logitech Z-5300's, or the Z-5500. Both excellent speaker systems. I have the Z-5300 and it sounds great.

Woah! I've wanted the Z-5500 but thought it was still $400. Didn't know the price was only $250 now. Thats what I'm gonna get for sure.

Top end Klipsch, Logitech, or Creative speakers will be what you are looking for. All 3 brands are high quality.

I also recommend the Z-5500 based entirely only on the fact that I own them and know they are great.

I have heard the Z-5500, they do rock! I have the Cambridge Soundworks THX 550 5.1 and I highly recommend those. So we have someone voting Klipsch, blue voting logitech, and me voting creative. Like i said, if you go high end with any of those 3 companies, you will be getting very good speakers.
