Really I don't know where to start. I'll let you know what my specs are to my knowledge (I'm a bit of a novice compared to most of you)
Asus A8n SLI AMD Athlon 4200 Dual Core Maxtor 6800 250GB hard Drive Nvidia Nforce4 7800GTX Windows x64 Professional Erm,that's not nearly enough is it? I know it's a PCI x 16 computer as well. The problems are many-fold. First of all, the very first time I loaded my computer it didn't get past the Windows 64-bit screen. I left it for 20 minutes but it just didn't boot up. So I reset it, and it loaded up. Now, however, it only detected I had a VGA generic graphics adapter and no games which required good graphics would work. So, to cut a long story short, I got a more technically gifted friend to format and reinstall everything, from the windows 64-bit O/S to the motherboard and graphics card drivers again. At first this seemed to work, with me enjoying 8 hours of Rome - Total War with no problems. However, the next day I started playing and it froze after a couple of minutes with the keyboard and mouse totally unresponsive, so I had to reset. Just a glitch, I thought. This, however, has continued to happen ever since. I've tried various reinstalling and system restores again with no luck. I just can't understand why the game played perfectly the night before and then suddenly it wouldn't work the next day after I had made absolutely no chancges. This wasn't an error on the game either, as exactly the same problem occurs with Empire Earth 2, which is a similar type of game. Another game (Football Manager 20005), which is processor based and requires no graphics, works perfectly. I'm really at my wits end and am considering reverting to Windows 32-Bit XP as I never had a problem with that. I've heard of many people having problems with the new X2 systems, but to me this doesn't seem like a processing error, what does it sound like to you? |
