i'm currently using a system with a 478 p4 1.8/256/400, 1gb(highdensity ddr) and a 160gb maxtor ata133 hdd.. i only need 3 things to complete a new 775 system, mobo,cpu,ram. i have been looking forward to the following items
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813130481R
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116224
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820223006.
i'm no big time gamer, i only use it for mp3 encoding, movie encoding, picture studio, etc. according to my research with tomshardware guide's cpu chart, a 478 celeron d is likely to perform better than the 775 2.66. so should i upgrade to a 478 celeron d and save my money or the new 775?
$250 budget, i know i can get a crazy fast 478 within that range, but if i gonna get a fast cpu, i would want a new one

1. Odds are the CeleronD wont outpace the 506 regardless of what THG may say.
2. S478 is effectively dead for desktop chips ... S775 will last you a bit longer into the future

A celeron of any kind would not be good for encoding/decoding, whether its audio or video.
