Default very frustrating, cd won't burn

I'm using a Memorex CD-RW and when i get a list of songs to burn in Windows Media Player and i hit start burn it says burning.. for about 1/4 a second and goes back to how it was right before the burn.

what is going on?

EDIT1- ok i had to take 2 songs off the list, one was "inspecting" and the other "may not fit" so now I just hope it works, but it probably wont, it hasnt the last 5-6 times i have tried to burn a cd, I will keep you updated.

EDIT2- K it finished burning and now it says

Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs.

as the other 5-6 times did.

how would i select a slower speed? this brand has worked before, the disk is spotless.

I have the same problem with my Phillips writer. To select a slower speed go to
Tools > options > click on the devices tab > double click on cd drive/recorder > recording tab >and then select a slower writing spped.
Needless to say I did all that but still keep getting the same message.

try nero. i never had windows media working on mines either. and i'd lke to edit names and cd titles and stuff, so i prefer nero. try a different program. if they dont work, its probably something with your memorex

1. You can also try DeepBurner which is free.

2. Try not burning on RWs
