Default Is it needed?

Ok These are what my specs are going to be.

Athlon 64 3200+
Corsair 1gb ram
eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GT
DFI NF4 SLI INFINITY
Maxtor DiamondMax 7200RPM 120 GB
ASPIRE X-Dreamer II
Liteon combo drive
Ultra X-Connect 500W ATX Modular
Windows Home edition

Ill be playing games such as battlefield 2 and Half life 2 on this rig. Do you think its a good idea to have 1gb of ram not then in a month get another gig or should I just get 512x2 ram and stay with that?

Well I am saving tones of money on that processer. 3200 for $141 or a 3500 for $210.

i rekon if ur gonna game seriously you will want two gigs especially if u r listening to music as well but if you dont game that much 1 gig is plenty. but a processor upgrade is a good idea you can always upgrade ram later

I tend to find that if you not a server then you don't need more then 2 gigs, but I feel that even 2 gigs is a bit overkill for hl 2 and bf. Unless you do some video editing between games.

2 GB RAM is starting to be essential to performance in RAM hoggins games like
BF2, Doom 3, HL2. There are rumors of BF2 taking over 800MB memory. This is still inside the 1GB barrier but if you count in that other things are also using that 1GB, it might cross over into the 2 GB range. For now, stick to 1GB and with some OCing, you can make it more effective and able to handle larger loads, relaxing the need to have 2GB.
