you can only install a DVD game with a DVD-ROM drive, you cant make the computer think its a dvd drive, since they use difference lasers.

Im sure ive heard of a program that does this, but i dont rememeber the name of it. In which case, the easiest thing to do is take your dvd drive out, and put it in your mates computer.

yeah there are many out there that claim they can do it.. i dont know if they do work.. if u really want to, u can just google "dvd to cd".. u will see a lot of reults. as of now, the possible easiest way for you is like elmarcorulz said, just take ur dvd drive and connect it to his.

another route u guys can take if u guys have broadband is to create an .iso of the dvd and transfer it to ur buddy via ftp

thats probably because u extracted it. and it probably needs the cd also so which means u will have to burn it onto a dvd.

u can try just transfering over the .iso, extract it on ur buddies computer, then try running it.

if all fails and u dont want to remove ur dvd drive. try daemon tools(google it).

Alcohol 120 will make a vitual DVD-Rom drive. Its a great burning program. So if you have the files in like an .ISO or somthing like that and you just need a virtual drive to run the install off of, i would say Alcohol 120 thats what I did and it worked great.

Edit: This virtual drive also lets you Get by the inserting different disks durning the install because you just mount the next disk.

Come on guys... Very easy to do.

1. Make an ISO/image of the dvd.
2. Use a program like hj split to split the ~4gb file into 800mb, to fit on a cd.. burn however many cd it takes.
3. Bring the cd to his house, rejoin them with hjjoin.
4. use Nero as a Drive emulator, and load it that way.

Fun Fun..

Or you could put it on a backup hd. and then emulate it from the iso off the hd.

that my friend, would be software piracy however as a purely academic discussion, i'll let it slide. what you need to do is properly duplicate whatever software piracy protection mechanisms are in place be it safedisc, securerom, tages, etc... and that wont be doable using a pretty progRAM like ultraiso (or even using iso file format, you'll need to access and store subchannel data depending on the protection scheme -- and iso, being 2048bytes/sec, doesnt support that).

CD/DVD 101.

1. Again, my comment regarding piracy.
2. That wont allow you to operate say, Never Winter Nights (SecureROM 4.84.xxxx)
