Default Sound Cards & Speakers

I made a previous thread ragarding speakers. I'm looking for an EXTREMELY powerful, loud, but yet crisp sound system for my laptop. I own a Dell Inspiron 9300 and I love it. My roomate has the Logitech 5.1 speaker system and it sounds pretty good. Is there anything more powerful that will sound better? Also, will a sound card make much of a difference? Im not sure what sound card my laptop came with, but my notebook sounds pretty good with just the speakers in it. Thanks for the help guys!

If you want to have really nice sound with really nice speakers, you will definetly need to get a sound card, especially if you want a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. The only sound card that i've run across for laptops is the Audigy 2 ZS for $99

As for speakers, i would say that the Logitech Z-5500's are really nice.

Could not possibly answer this for you as we don't know what 5.1 surround set he has by Logitech ;-).

Although If it is the Z-5500's they are very solid performers and I recommend them. They are not the only top end PC speakers though so I suggest you look at other as well.

You'll especially need a sound card if you don't have surround sound as your looking for 5.1 and or higher. I don't know of many laptops/notebooks that have surround sound.

Here is my set of speakers, only 2.1, expensive, but it will beat almost all 5.1's in loudness, bass AND sound quality! (in my opinion) but read all the reviews!
