Default question about hyperthreading

is hyperthreading on all the time or is it just on when it needs it. i have it turned on in the bios. when i look in the task manager it shows two logical processors and most of the time one of them is using less cpu usage than the other one. and where can i find the amount of ram that i am using all the time in the task manager or do i have to find that out someplace else. because even when i am not doing anything my pagefile usage is at 150 or more and i have 512 mb of ram and was wondering do i need more.

hyperthreading is on all the time when enabled. I would always expect one logical processor to be less than the other as the 2nd one takes advantage of the "spare" processing power available.im sure there is some more info here for you Cpu 101

There's a little more detailed explanation than appears in CPU 101 here. Hyper threading
