Hi Everyone,
I have to set up TCP/IP parameters on a computer by utilising a network card. I am running Windows XP home Edition. Do I simply go to Control Panel>Network & Internet Connections>Double click on Local Area Connection, then select both check boxes in the list relating to TCP/IP. The main problem I am having is that there are two check boxes relating to TCP/IP in the list. One is ‘Microsoft TCP/IP version 6’, the other is ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)’. Do I install both , & what’s the difference between them? Thanks

Hi Trizoy,
Thanks for the reply, little confused, I put it down to the variances in English, I speak the mother tongue, you speak the ‘hybrid’ version. A mate of mine from little old England told me that ‘Microsoft TCP/IP version 6’ isn’t used much, so I suppose just installing ‘Internet Protocol TCP/IP’ should do the job. Chill man, & make sure those little olde planes arrive on time & safely,

you dont need IPv6, its a developing protocol that is not in use in most places yet. it uses hex values instead of 4 octets. i would actually remove it from the network device if ure not using it.
