Alright, XP is installed. but the memory check page still isnt coming up. It goes to the Harware Monitor and then XP boots. Now I'm planning on dual-booting Mandrake 10.0 with XP, but, even with the correct BIOS settings, my computer will not boot from CD.

I have no idea either! I just ahd it boot from the CD and XP installed. Should I uninstall Windows, and reset the CMOS or something?

I think you should pay more attention to your preboot sequence .... you said that you dont see the memory screen thingy ..... you *should* (or you should be able to see it)

This is still what happens when I let the computer boot up on its own
1. A page comes up that only says:
GeForce FX 5500 BIOS
Version 4.4..........
Copyright Nvidia 1996-2003
128.0 MB ram
2. A screen comes up with a big BIOSTAR symbol.
3. Then the harware monitor comes up and under it it says Verfying DMI Pool Data
4. Then XP boots up.

The memory check screen does not appear.
