Exclamation Win 98 Boot Up

I have one Pc with XP instlled and one with 98 SE. On the one with 98 SE there si a problem, well kinda, when you boot up.

It POST's it detects drives, it goes past all that BIOS crap. It is when the 98 splash screen should come up it goes a bit wierd, it starts listing the diretory trees (i.e. dir C:\) of all the windows directories. This lasts about 1:30 mins. Then for a split second it flashes up the end of the 98 splash screen and conitinues to load into windows.

So wahts all this about, instead of seeing the blue and white line at the bottom of the 98 screen i get a dir list of practically everything on the C drive. Its not a problem, because windows still loads with no problems, any ideas wot it is doing.???

Default

are you sure it's directory listings or is it various drivers and such being loaded?
