Need help desperatly.

Hey all.

So I just restarted my computer, and everything from my desktop was gone. It was still in Admin/D&S/Destop but it just wasn't showing up on the actual main page of the computer. I find that real strange.

Everything in the quick launch bar was gone.

All the regulary used programs in the Start section were gone aswell.

I came into the internet (Using Netscape 7.2) and all my Favourites were gone!!! (this is the second time that has happened) Is there any way to get the back? I had some stuff in there that I badly want, but can't remember.

And also, yesterday when I first turned by PC on, my internet connection wsa gone. But I created another one easy enough.

But my question is, what could be the problem? Bad hard drive? Virus? I'm doing a scan ATM (using AVG free version) and there are Trojan Horses in the JPI chache. Is this bad? Any chance of something worse happening?

QUESTIONS 101
Do a scan with Trendmico's housecall (IE) and see if it picks up anything.
