i added my buddies geforce 4 ti4600 and the graphice are sooo much better, i can play a game without it lagging... but there is still no real speed up in things

my computer takes 1 minute 30 seconds to load, (compared to my buddies intel centrino notebook with 2 gig of ram, which takes about 15 seconds)

would having a dvd in the drive, or having 2 partitions cause any problems?

yea, norton and NIS are 2 completely different animals. I used to run NIS and it absolutly killed my system. It was the biggest memory hog ever and it blocked everything I didn't want it to. Once I switched to mcaffe enterprise (same thing as norton enterprise....same company), i noticed a DRAMATIC increase in speed

ok, i just purchased 2 gig pc 3200 corsair ram cas latency 3, ati x850 pro, evercool ram heat sinks, aspire 520 watt power supply

should my problems be fixed?

i dont know about fixed, but DRAMATICALLY improved for sure. the ram will make a big difference, and the other stuff makes it sound cool
