Default New Computer Sux

I purchased a compaq presario from circuit city new in august. It never really ran like i thought it should, but as time went on, the computer got worse and worse. it has not built up with spy.adware, because i can it every day, i also have norton internet security running too.

I have formated it about 3 times, trying to get it to run better, with no luck.
the problem is, it lags like crazy! if im watching a movie, i cant do anything else! I cant even play games on it, because it is too unstable. i just tried moving a 4 gig file to a removable hard drive, and the computer froze halfway through (much like it does while i do just about anything above using the internet)

i have a cable modem.

the computer is a Compaq Presario SR1550NX, specs can be found here

what is the problem here?

sounds like a conflict of a sort... have you installed any new hardware/software? Can you still return it?
