yeah, I made a mistake when i bought the X800XL, I can't seem to OC it more that 30 mhz and that pisses me off. I remember I used to have a ati 9200 128MB and I swear to god that I OC that ****er from 150 to 350 without a scratch. Damn the X800 Xl. but OC or not my cs runs like heaven with everything maxed out even with my stupid 256kb connection and my not so stupi X800XL AGPX8

Yeah, I had the same problem when attempting to OC my brother's X800XL. He recently got a X800XT and it overclocks just fine n'dandy. Somehow I think it's the L in X800XL.

As for specs, I have a 2.4Ghz P4 with 512 Mb RAM and a Radeon 9600, it works just fine. Well I have 35 FPS, so I guess a slightly less better PC will do the job fine. All I'm saying is that don't think you need a high-end PC for CS:S.

I'm a big CSS player. I have installed in my desktop right now an

AMD Athlon XP 3200+
1 gig of RAM
GeForce 6600GT (AGP)

I think now you could get a 64 bit version of that processor, and the PCIe version of that graphics card for about the same price (or maybe even cheaper) then they were when I first got them... and that (I'm willing to bet) would play everything on full just fine.
Played Quake 4 ok.. the mobo died a few days after I got Q4 though, so I cant give ya a REAL idea on that one. I put in the new one last night, hopefully I can get it back up and running today. But like someone else said about getting bored of one game... that very well could happen, so if you get a better card (6800GT) that might not be a bad idea.

Well, it has 512 mb of memory so that will make performance enhancements for future games.
